Rajiv Chandrasekaran's Imperial Life In The Emrald City this Washington Post senior editor's astonishing account of 18 months in Iraq bearing witness to the culture of corruption and ineptitude that characterised the reconstruction of the country.

Here he is with Fareed Zakaria

For all the rhetoric of helping the Iraqi people Chandrasekaran saw an obliviousness to them in the armed bunker that was built in Baghdad. It was turned into a replica of anytown USA. The book is bold and well written, a real pleasure to read.
